A seminar titled ‘The Role of the Upcoming National Parliament Election in Establishing Democracy and Human Rights’ was organized by the World Human Rights Organization – Bangladesh (WHROB) at the National Press Club.

The seminar was held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club.

Discussions in the seminar focused on the importance of the upcoming National Parliament Election in protecting democracy and human rights, as well as the necessary measures to ensure a fair electoral process.

The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Masum, Chairman of WHROB. Begum Selima Rahman, a member of the BNP National Standing Committee, was present as the chief guest, while Aman Ullah Aman, a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council, attended as the keynote speaker.

The seminar commenced with a welcome speech by WHROB Head Of Media Cell’s SM Shamsul Huda, while the session was moderated by former Secretary Zia Hasan.

Distinguished guests at the event included BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, former Member of Parliament and BNP National Executive Committee Member Nazim Uddin Alam, Director of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Imam Zafar Shikder, and Advisor of Apon Shishu Bikash Foundation Ummut Tijan Makhduma Panni.

In their speeches, the speakers highlighted various aspects of the role of the upcoming national election in safeguarding democracy and human rights. They urged for the election to be held as soon as possible, warning that any delay could undermine people’s voting rights and, consequently, human rights.

They also emphasized the necessity of free and fair elections and discussed the responsibilities of political parties in ensuring democracy and human rights protection.

The seminar was attended by individuals from various sectors, including human rights activists, political analysts, and media representatives.
